At home, you should feel like the atmosphere, the look and feel, the temperature, and even the air you breathe is catered to your preference and desires. You are the king or queen of your own castle, and it should feel that way year round. We’ve rounded up some of the BEST, easiest ways to improve your home comfort whether your home is old, new, or somewhere in between.

Embrace Your Space

Whether you’re in a minimalist one-bedroom home with a partner or roommate or you’re living in a four-bedroom family home with kids and pets, it’s important to love the space you’re in. This means that every room in your home is functional for your needs and that whether you’re working to transform tight spaces or happy spreading out, you can make it yours.

How to make your L.A. house a home:

There are many different ways that you can make your house feel more like home. House Nerd suggests tips like:

  • Diversify where you buy your home goods from.
    If everything in your home comes from IKEA, Target, Crate & Barrell or Pottery Barn this year, your home is going to look more like a catalog of stock images and less like an expression of you and yours. Pick up pieces as you go, and don’t take ALL your cues from the store display.
  • Display sentimental or personal items.
    Your home will feel less staged and more comfortable when you see yourself reflected in every space. This might mean hanging photos, shelving books that mean something to you, or putting up your kids’ artwork.
  • Add some greenery.
    Your home can really feel like you and like a place where real life happens when you infuse your spaces with plant life. Add a hanging pot, a succulent, or a 6-foot tree wherever it suits you, and watch how that little touch of green can impact your environment.
  • When all else fails, relax.
    Don’t worry so much about how your home will appeal to others. Instead, focus on making it work for YOU, and watch how quickly you become more confident and comfortable in every room. That comfort will be contagious when you entertain, and you’ll feel proud to share your home with others.

Revamp a Room Affordably

We all have those rooms that were the last to get the golden touch. Perhaps when you moved into your space you made the living and dining rooms the oases that they should be – ripe for entertaining – but the poor bathrooms lack the luxe finish.

We had the pleasure of having Brody Pennell Technician, David Mares, perform our annual Comfort Club heater inspection. David’s review found carbon monoxide levels at the heating units and vent locations. He called his field supervisor, Kyle Rudolf, and requested his presence to further assess our system. Kyle performed a thorough inspection of the heater interiors with a digital borescope and captured images of locations that showed where leakage was occurring. He recommended replacing our system due to its age and explained our options. Both David’s and Kyle’s thorough information, explanations and politeness made our choice of replacing our system an easy one.

The crew of Frank Trejo, Jesus Farias and Edwin Cabra performed our installation. They were extremely diligent about keeping our residence clean and placed protection tarps
along the entire flooring leading to the attic installation entrance. The installation is outstanding and immaculate. Also, the operation of the system was explained at the end of the job. All the crew were extremely polite, and their work was outstanding.

It was a pleasure to have Brody Pennell perform our installation with their great crew. We feel fortunate having such an outstanding company taking care of our HVAC system.

Brody Pennell technician Alberto Montalvo performed the service for our heat pump system this morning, 3/12, and did an excellent job. Upon completion, he explained everything that he did and also took the time to show photos detailing the condition of the system. He also provided an option to help prolong the life of our heat pumps. Alberto is extremely polite, knowledgeable and a great asset to Brody Pennell.

Anthony Manzo Daniel B completed an exemplary job. They arrive a little early, walked through the process and I brought them to the roof. They were very respectful of our home with appropriate covers to the floor and transit areas. The installation was spot on, the new is a little smaller and we discussed Brody Pennel minor touch. Given I painted the entire home, I thanked them and noted I complete the touch up. The new a/c is amazing - quiet, purifies the air, changes the room temperature in less than ten minutes and I suspect the energy use will be substantially less because of the attached information. Thank you for Anthony and Daniel. The best!

The technician (Giovanny) was terrific— very knowledgeable about our problem and our complicated heating/AC system. He finished the job quickly and.the charge was reasonable. If we have problems again, this is the company I will call. They have interesting subscription plan that ensures regular maintenance and lower costs in case of trouble. We’re giving serious thought to sign signing up for that.

May '24 We just had them replace our entire HVAC system at our commercial warehouse and they did a fabulous job. Mike I was very attentive to every detail and to all of my concerns. Raul I was the one who truly made the integration smooth by going above and beyond. Them and Pablo P, Segio S and Nathan C, all really cared about taking good care of my place. They're expensive but they're worth it. 5 more stars!
